Hallelujah!! It's Friday! I think this might have been one of the longest weeks of the school year!!
I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs for Five for Friday again this week...

We went on one of our favorite field trips this week...the play at our local junior college. We got to see Alice in Wonderland and it was sooo good! We walk on this trip and on the way back, the local pediatrician passed out lemonade to all our kids...such a nice treat!
Today we read Mister Seahorse and then made this cute project my friend Deeanna created to go with it. We talked about where each daddy fish kept the eggs, then used lentils as our eggs to display and sequence the story.

We've been working hard all week on our addition and subtraction fluency to 5 and we're getting much better. Today, we played a partner game with our flashcards to help us practice even more. I love the look on my little sweetie's face in the second picture!! These are part of my new fluency pack.
I am ashamed to show this picture!! Is anyone else feeling the end of the year chaos? I had about 5 different things going on today and my little side table is evidence!! I'm afraid it will only get worse before the end of the year!
Last, I want to wish all of you a very Happy Mother's Day!! Whether you have children of your own or not, you are all mothers in some capacity as we have these sweeties almost as much as their moms. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!!

Now, head over to Doodle Bugs to see everyone else's Five for Friday!

Happy Teacher Appreciation Day! I hope all of you are feeling loved by your students and by the people you work with. My kiddos have been extra sweet this week and I got a huge supply of chocolate from one of the sweet girls on my team today, which I think I'll need these last few days!

We're still deep in our ocean learning and this week we've been reading Big Al and The Rainbow Fish. Today we compared the two stories and made venn diagrams {that I forgot to take a picture of!} and then I let the kids be a little creative and use paper and beads to make their own rainbow fish. They loved getting to use the beads!

In math, we've been using our fish and shark to compare numbers. The kids love this game {we call it Hungry Shark}. Two kids are fish and one is the shark. The shark has to decide which fish to eat based on the greater number, then we all write the inequality on our marker boards. You can get the cards for it here on google docs.

Speaking of math, we're working hard to master our facts to 5, which is still a little tricky for some of us. To help, I made a new pack that has centers, games, fluency activity sheets, fluency checks, and flashcards. We used some today and the kids were so proud of themselves!

You can get these activities in my new pack by clicking the picture below. I had a brainstorm for another game to add to it at lunch today, so it will be updated hopefully by the weekend. {Go ahead and grab it now while it's on sale!}
Don't forget the big sale at TpT today and tomorrow...I'll be clearing my wishlist as soon as I make it home from Wal-Mart {why did I wait until the last minute to get Mother's Day stuff??}. :)
It's Friday again, that means Five for Friday! {Frames from Krista and font from Cara}
1. Testing: We've been taking the Stanford 10 test all week long and I have never been so happy to put those dang test folders away! You can tell the kids were more than a little excited to be done today. Kindegarteners + testing + a rainy week with no PE = Foul moods for everyone!

2. Starfish - Yesterday we continued our ocean animal fun and learned all about starfish. The kids thought it was so neat that they have no ears, eyes, or nose!

3. Pirates: Today we read How I Became A Pirate and the kids loved it! We made these little pirates to hold our writing about what we would do if we were pirates. You can get the writing paper here for free :) {Frame is Krista's and font is Cara's}
4. Instagram: Thanks to the girls at Apples and ABC's and What the Teacher Wants, I am officially addicted to Instagram. Did you see all the great pictures this week? Check in Tuesday for #teachertalktuesday
5. New Packs: I have been working on farm and fluency packs for what seems like forever!! There's just not enough time in the day, but I am determined to get them finished this weekend!

Just for fun and just because it's Friday, I would love to give something away from my store. Leave me a comment telling me how many more days of school you have and I will pick a random winner to pick one item from my store tomorrow night!
Now head over to Doodle Bugs to see everyone else's Five for Friday!

We are taking the Stanford 10 test this week {ask me how much fun it is to get 18 precious little dears to all sit still and quiet and listen for an hour + every morning especially when we move around constantly on a normal day}, so in the afternoons, we've been having fun learning about ocean life.
Monday, we learned about crabs {with the help of a little internet research}. We made these precious crabs from Kinder by Kim and then made crab fact books to go on the inside. If you've never been over to Kim's website or blog, you have to!! Her stuff is so super cute!

Tuesday, we investigated shells. Last summer, my family and I went on a little beach trip and to say we got a few shells for me to use at school is a little bit of an understatement {when my family does something, we go all out :)}! I let the kids each pick a shell then talk about words that describe their shell with their shoulder partners. Then, we made a big list of describing words which was a little confusing for some since some of the words didn't describe their specific shell. We followed up with the kids doing their own descriptive writing. You can get the writing page here.

The beach is only about an hour away and has the best shells!

Today, we learned about sea turtles. The kids thought they were so neat! We made a big sea turtle to hold our shared writing then the kids each made their own sea turtle with a fact.
{Don't be jealous of the wood paneling in the portable :) }

We're also using our ocean centers whenever we get a spare second...you can get them here on TpT.
Tomorrow we'll be learning about starfish after the listening portion of our Stanford 10...we'll see how well it goes after being cooped up all week with no PE because of rain :). I'm off to make grape salad {one of my favorites!} for a team member's baby shower tomorrow.
If you didn't catch all the fun on Instagram yesterday, be sure to go over and check out #teachertalktuesday! Lots of great pics and ideas! You can follow Mrs. Plant's Press while you're there too...happy middle of the week!

This week we started our ocean unit and we are having tons of fun! We began yesterday by reading a general informational book about the ocean and then watching a little video about ocean life. Then, we sorted animals as to whether they live in the ocean or not. We also brainstormed a list of things we could find in the ocean.

These pages are part of my ocean pack or you can get them in a separate pack.

Today, we read Splash in the Ocean, which is one of my favorites. The kids love the song that goes along with it! After reading, we talked about action words and made a list of our own. Then, we made a new page for the book using our own animal and action word.

If you would like the writing sheet, you can get it on google docs here.

We've also been having some ocean themed fun with our literacy and math centers.

You can find the language centers and math centers in my TpT store or if you need both, you can also find the bundle there.
