Workshops Are Working!

This is week 4 us and my first week to pull my small groups. However, we've been learning the rules and procedures for workshops {literacy centers} since the first week. To begin with, I was rotating through making sure my little ones were on task and knew EXACTLY what to do. It is soooo important to model, model, model and practice, practice, practice!! Then, the kids did workshops while I did the diagnostic assessment for our new reading series. {Anyone else get the new McGraw Hill Reading Wonders and want to form a support group??}
When we first started, I used these cute rules from Kristen over at A Day in First Grade to get us going. If you're needing some help setting up centers, this pack is perfect!!

Now, since it's late and I have a sleeping baby on my arm, I'm going to let the pictures do the talking about what our workshops are right now...

  1. I'm jealous that you have been able to actually start centers. I'm hoping to get there next week. I'm still in the training stage of Daily 5 and I'm so ready to just "get on with it!" This group is a little harder to train than I'm used to so it's taking longer than I'd like. I was able to work with students during Read to Self time yesterday so that's a step in the right direction!
