We read Hop on Pop and reviewed rhyming words {these are still giving some of us some trouble} by playing a little find your partner game then using the cards to make an anchor chart. We also came up with our own rhyming words.
We also read In a People House and talked about labels and why authors use them .We made these houses that we labeled with things that can be found in our houses.
We also read Horton Hears a Who and discussed Horton's character traits. Each time the kids gave me a trait, they had to give their evidence why they thought it described Horton. This is still a little tricky for most, but the kids are getting better at each time we do it :). We also made our own Horton and wrote which of his characteristics we would like to have.
Tomorrow we're going to start working on our St. Patrick's Day centers. The kids LOVE when we get new literacy workshops and math centers! If you purchased my St. Pat's pack last year, be sure to go into your purchases on TpT and re-download them. I have put 2 new centers in it as well as re-done some of the activity sheets. If you would like to grab these centers, click on the picture below. I'll give one pack away to the first person to comment :).
