Scarecrows and a Halloween Freebie

Today we had lots of fun reading about scarecrows and learning about setting. We read The Falling Leaves and the Scarecrow to help formally introduce setting. After, we talked about when and where the story happened and the kids helped to make our anchor chart.

We also worked together to create a tree map all about scarecrows. This was a little tricky for my kids, but they did a pretty good job. We also made these super cute scarecrows to show off our tree maps. The pattern can be found here for free (thanks Mynda Rivera!).

In math, we used our scarecrows and crows to help us decompose more with the number 6 and count on from a given number to 6.
Love how attentive they are!

We worked to figure out how many birds how flown away when given a number of crows that were on the scarecrow.

We counted on from a given number to make 6 using black paint to make more crows (this was made by Deeanna at Golden Gang Kindergarten)
Also, I posted a Halloween letter matching freebie in my TpT store last night. You can grab it by clicking on the picture:

Hope everyone's Wednesday was great! I am off to work on a Halloween pack with center activities...I would love to hear your ideas of what to include!
