I am trying to work on my ocean pack this weekend and get it finished before school on Monday. It seems like the week is so busy and I never to get to work on thing after school as much as I would like. We are going on a field trip to Gulf World this week to start our ocean unit, so I need to get busy making my centers! For those of you who have purchased my packs before or for those of you who might need some ocean themed activities, anything in particular your kiddos are working on right now or anything they're struggling with that you would like to see included in the pack? Of course, I'll be including some blend and digraph practice, word stretching, word family work, and addition and subtraction, but I would appreciate suggestions so much!
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!! I can't believe how fast the school year is flying by!

HI Vickie,
ReplyDeleteWe are starting fractions and I have not been able to find much fraction help. :) It's an idea...

I'll have to think of something...that's not common core for math in K, so I bet that's why you're having trouble. Y'all aren't using common core there, are you? :)
DeleteNo we're not... and I wish we were. Our state TEKS (Texas Education Knowledge and SKills) is already pretty rigorous and I don't think they are accepting common core any time soon, but definitely not next year. Sigh... I have made a lot of my own games to use, but I always enjoy seeing what others can come up with. I just get sad with all the ideas I see on blogs that are in states that have adopted common core. I wish we did oceans, insects, and oviporous animals. We don't even study our state symbols, rather we focus on historical figures in our state. I could go on and on... Thanks for telling me it's not a part of common core. :)

Hi Vickie,
ReplyDeleteHow about another activity like your "What's that number?" in your Spring Fever pack? That is in Common Core and would be very useful to my kids. If there was a way for the kids to do the opposite, like "build" the teen number would be fantastic too! Just a thought...
Good luck finishing the unit, looking forward to it!

Hi Vickie! My kiddos still need practice with vowels, sight words, counting on and tallies. I'd love to see something with animal facts or sorting by attributes. How about the layers of the ocean or the names of the oceans? We will be working on numbers to 30 by then too. Just some ideas...I am sure you will do an awesome job! Can't wait to see it!
