Today, we read A House For Hermit Crab. After reading, we talked a lot about the hermit crab's home and about shells we see on the beach close to where we live. This past weekend, I collected some shells for our class at the beach, and this morning, each child got to pick their own. After we picked our shells, we worked together to create a describing words chart for shells. Then, we each wrote about our shells. The kids' writing turned out really cute.

I am so proud of this sweetie! When he came in October, he knew hardly any letters and today he wrote this! |
We also started some new math centers today and as usual, the kids were super excited.

In my ocean pack, I have lots of ways you can use these cards, but I have 2 sweeties who are still working on numbers to 10, so they used them to play a matching game today. |

Hi Vicki
ReplyDeleteI just purchased your ocean unit and love it --so much there!! Could I have the shell writing page above? Thanks Chris

I love your ocean unit! The kids are loving the centers! Can you tell me what you use (font or whatever) to make the lines in your documents? I would appreciate it....not liking the one I've been using.
ReplyDeleteHi there! I'm so glad your class is enjoying the ocean unit and thanks so much for your purchase!! I *think* in my packs I used the font ABC print dotted line from http://www.fonts101.com/search/abc+print+dotted+line.aspx
DeleteI just hold down the shift button and the hyphen to make the lines. I also have a HB manuscript font at school that the school purchased that I really like, but I'm not sure if you can use it for commercial items. :)
